Fountains Abbey, From The SE
Photographer: Shaw, James
Medium: Photographic print
"We reproduce the picture as a frontispiece in collotype, and may here add that our printers, Messrs. Hazell, Watson, & Viney, Limited, have produced the picture from the competitor's negative. They have added to their already very extensive printing establishments a photo.-reproduction department, which is worked as a section of the lithographic department. For many years Messrs. Hazell have enjoyed a high reputation for first-class lithographic work; and the constant necessity for illustrating works upon photography and the reproduction of photographs has prompted them to start this special branch, laying down expensive machinery, which is in the charge of an experienced artist and a staff of men who have been specially trained for the work.
Mr. Shaw's enlargement shows careful work, and we feel sure that many will value a faithful reproduction from his negative of the venerable ruins of Fountains Abbey."
