Prize-winning photograph in the 'Inland Scenery With Or Without Figures' category of the 'Amateur Photographer' Monthly Competition No. 35, May 1892
"'Going Home' (G. Woods, Hastings - Bronze Medal). This picture is a marked contrast to the foregoing, for the awkward position of the horse, and the attitude of the man standing, as it were, at 'attention,' only too plainly indicate the serious difficulties with which the photographer has at times to deal. The fragmentary portions of branches fringing the margin of the picture on the left are unnecessary, and would have been better omitted. The technical work of the original photographs left nothing to be desired, and we feel sure that Mr. Woods will take our criticism in good part. A Dallmeyer's 11 in. rapid rectilinear f/10, cap-off-and-on exposure, on a Castle plate, were the means used to secure the negative."
