Grasmere From Loughrigg Terrace
Medium: Photographic print
High Raise, Helmcrag, Steel Fell, Lonscale Fell and Seat Sandal surround Grasmere Village, the burial place of English poet William Wordsworth (1770-1850). Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) and Robert Southey (1774-1843) also made the Lake District their home at the beginning of the 19th century. The beauty of the natural world and the local landscape greatly influenced their work.
