Gay's Staithe, Barton Broad

“Gay’s Staithe, Barton Broad. – The advent of a yachting party or canoe club makes the Staithe still more gay; but on a brilliant summer’s day, such as that depicted in this view, one’s spirits are, like the barometer, so high that everything around seems gay. We see everything through rosy glasses, and even the commonest scenes are then imbued with an interest and peacefulness that we do not see on a dull or wet day. A stroll through the village and chat with the natives gives one a good insight into their manners, customs and speech, which will be found highly interesting.”
