“Horstead Mill. – This delightfully picturesque mixture of wood and water stands near Coltishall Bridge, and forms a striking object from whatever point it is approached. It is upwards of 200 years old, and forms a favourite subject with artists, as its contrast of black and white is so very marked as to give very bold effects upon canvas. Another ‘bit’ for artistic reproduction is the old Lock hard by. Both Lock and Mill are only a short stroll from Coltishall Station.”
Letterpress description by Ernest R. Suffling accompanying Plate XXXIV from ‘Sun Pictures of the Norfolk Broads’.
