"This month we have the pleasure to present to our subscribers a portrait of the President of the Bolton Photographic Society, Mr. Joseph Ridgway Bridson, J.P., of Bridge House, Bolton, Lancashire, and Bryerswood, Windermere. The negative was taken by Mr. Fred. Proctor, of Bolton. Mr. Bridson has been President of the society since 1884. His connection with photography dates from the days of the wet plate. He has been a prominent exhibitor at the society's exhibition, and elsewhere; and has been awarded several medals, including a gold medal given by the London Stereoscopic Company, and the Amateur Photographer silver medal for photographs contributed to the 'Home Portraiture' competition."
