“Malster’s Inn (Ranworth). – This inn lies so close to Malthouse Broad Staithe, that visitors may sail almost up to its door. It is noticeable for nothing in particular, except that one may obtain here a glass of the sweet ale for which Norfolk is famous. A blend of London bitter ale with the Norwich ale is much in vogue among visitors. ‘A quart of sweet and bitter’ sounds strange at first, but it appears to be a welcome sound to many thirsty visitors in hot weather.”
Letterpress description by Ernest R. Suffling accompanying Plate X from ‘Sun Pictures of the Norfolk Broads’.
