"Newlyn's Exeter Park Hotel, patronised by royalty and nobility, is one of the oldest establishments in the place. It contains comfortably furnished and admirably arranged suites of apartments, all of which command pleasant views; it is situated in Exeter Park, half way between the pier and the square on the Exeter Road. The hotel front faces south, and its grounds are large and well kept. The proprietor is Mr. Henry Newlyn, whose experience in the highest class of catering is a guarantee of excellence in this as in all other departments, Mr. Newlyn having had the distinguished honour, as Manager of the Guards' Club, of catering for seven years for H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, H.R.H. the Duke of Cambridge, H.S.H. Prince Edward of Saxe-Weimar, and the Officers of Her Majesty's Brigade of Guards. Mr. Newlyn was previously, for five years, Steward of the Junior Athenaeum Club."
