Poet's Corner, Long Millgate

"'Ichabod' may be written upon 'Poet's Corner,' for in truth the glory has departed...Since the license was withdrawn, the building has been divided into tenements, and it is now in a dilapidated and utterly forlorn conditon. The date, 1623, may still be traced over one of the windows; but this evidently indicates an addition or alteration, for the structure bears the evidence of belonging to a much earlier period."
Text by James Croston from his book 'Manchester As It Is'.
