“Racing Craft on the Waveney. – These yachts are in a somewhat difficult position for one to obtain a good idea of the enormous sail area they can spread. Persons from other parts of England often marvel at the huge sails which these craft can carry, but it must be remembered that most of them have heavy leaden keels, which make them very stable in the water. Besides this they are usually constructed to carry a centre-board which gives them still further stability. Breydon Water and Wroxham Broad are the chief places for yacht racing, while Oulton Broad also has its fair share for yachts up to 10 tons.”
