“South Walsham Broad. – The curious arrangement of hoops and net hung from the tree is the poke-end of an eel net hung up to dry. Notice the return pieces, in the interior of the net, in the form of funnels; these prevent the eels from finding their way out when once in. Standing by the tree is a long-handled weed rake, for keeping the spot clear, when the net is placed, of undergrowth.”
