The jetty at Great Yarmouth in Norfolk stands between the Wellington and Britannia piers "and dates from 1808, replacing one that had weathered many a storm since the year 1560. The principal object it was intended to serve was to provide a convenient landing-place for sailors and fishermen who wished to come ashore from their vessels for the purchase of provisions, and, whilst it admirably serves this purpose, it is also a favourite lounge and promenade during the season."

Letterpress from 'Photographs of Great Yarmouth'.
