The Evening Hour
Photographer: Moss, Charles
Medium: Photographic print
Prize-winning photograph in the 'Sea Pieces And River Scenery' category of the 'Amateur Photographer' Monthly Competition No. 42, December 1892
"'The Evening Hour' (Charles Moss, London - Silver Medal). A most artistic photograph, fully conveying the effect sought for, but in which the shadows remain luminous and full of soft detail. It is, perhaps, a little captious to criticise too closely so charming a picture; but we think the composition would have been strengthened by cutting away a little of the foreground. Mr. Moss was wise in using an isochromatic plate, which is invaluable for reproducing late evening effets."
