Marble sculpture (artist unspecified) of the Laocoon legend on display at the reconstructed Crystal Palace exhibition hall in Sydenham Hill. Laocoon, a Trojan priest, warned his people against bringing the Wooden Horse through the city walls into Troy. Poseidon, who favoured the Greeks, sent two enormous snakes to crush Laocoon and his two sons to death.
