The bill of entertainment in Victorian theatres and music halls was often very varied, extending from opera and drama to farce and dance - as evidenced by this leaflet for the Sun Music Hall in London's Knightsbridge. Performers usually worked on a freelance basis, and would sometimes appear in three or four different venues in a single night.
