Advertised on this leaflet is Jenny Hill, a dramatic comedian who specialised in character songs that celebrated the lives of the working classes in a heavily stylised and even sentimental fashion. She performed both in character and in costume, singing songs from the point of view of a serving girl, waitress or street saleswoman. She continually improvised much of her material when she was on stage, and often supplemented her earnings by acting as 'Principal Boy' during the Christmas pantomime season. Hill was a small in stature but had a large and voluble personality, earning her the nickname Saucy Little Jenny.
