Advert for Koko, hair care product
Artist: Harrison, J. J.
Medium: Print on paper
This leaflet is advertising 'Koko Hair Shampoo'. Women were encouraged to look natural and untouched, wearing very little makeup so as to emphasise their delicate features and their femininity. A woman's hair was her ‘crowning glory’, it was hardly ever cut, except perhaps in severe illness, and was always beautifully styled. Hair was dressed with jewels, feathers and combs and just as now, there were many hair care products and countless manuals and magazines publishing articles about caring for hair with tips, recipes and ideas.
