This leaflet is advertising M. Chapman, a beskpoke tailor. Having specially fitted jackets and suits was essential for the fashionable Victorian gentleman. Men wore a three-piece suit and their choice of jacket was their way of demonstrating their class and style. Colours were subtler for eveningwear, there were various shades of brown, dark green, blue and of course black. Coats like the ‘Prince Albert’ were named after the important members of society who used to wear them.
