Advert for Daimler Motor Boats, reverse side
Medium: Print on paper
This is the reverse of the advert.
This is an advertisement for Daimler motor boats. Gottlieb Daimler from Schorndorf, Germany, designed one of the first light-weight, high-speed engines which ran on gasoline. A young inventor in England, Frederick Simms, saw the potential of the engine and bought the English rights to it. He started importing the engines in 1891 and fitted them in boats he was building for use on the Thames. His business was a great success and in 1893 he formed ‘The Daimler Motor Syndicate Ltd’.
