Advert for the Windsor Historical Exhibition
Printer: Trump, R
Medium: Print on paper
This is an advertisement for an exhibition of watercolours of Queen Victoria’s private living rooms at Windsor Castle. The British public's fascination with the royal family reached a new intensity in the 19th century, and attending viewings such as this was one of the best ways to both satisfy and pique that interest. The paintings not only depicted official events like the Instillation of the Order of the Garter, but also portrayed more private ceremonies, such as weddings and christenings.
