Advert for RG Maney's linoleum & floor cloth
Printer: Geo. Harrison & Sons
Medium: Print on paper
A revolutionary and cheap floor covering, linoleum was first produced in Britain in the 1840s. It was made primarily of linseed oil mixed with other agents and was advertised as an ideal covering for kitchen and bathroom floors. So popular was it that its use was extended to covering work surfaces. Easy to keep clean, water resistant and durable, it transformed the look of the average 19th century kitchen.
