Wool clothes became very fashionable in the late 19th century. People felt that this natural fabric would allow their skin to breath and at the same time keep them warm. It also became particularly popular with tailors, who used it to line coats and suit jackets for winter wear. Wool was sometimes dyed to match the overall outfit, usually in neutral browns or greens, but it was most frequently worn in its natural cream colour.
