This is an advertisement for John Wright and Son's gas stove. The earliest recorded use of gas for cooking was in 1802 when a Moravian chemical manufacturer Zachaus Winzler gave dinner parties at which the food was prepared on a cooker consisting of four burners and a small oven. However gas cooking did not become popular became popular until the 1880s when rental schemes were introduced so that people could afford to own their own stove.
