Advert for the Hospital Saturday Fund reverse
Medium: Print on paper
Funds like the one featured on this leaflet were established to help the poor afford visits to the doctor or hospital treatment. Traditionally, charity fundraising took place on Saturdays, hence this society's name. Most Saturdays would have seen a procession through the streets of the town or city, with collectors on foot accompanied by highly decorated horse-drawn floats. There would also have been house-to-house collections.
