This is an advertisement for Bailey Brothers Exhibition Cement. The Victorians were very proud of their homes and the middle and upper classes could spend considerable sums on them, this was partly to make them more comfortable and partly to demonstrate their prosperity to their friends and family. Ornaments, paintings, embroidered panels and vases were all popular decorative items. It was fashionable to have a large number of ornaments arranged on shelves, mantle pieces and tables. Breakages would have been common so a product like this cement would have been very useful.
