Advert For M. J. & G. Nathan, Fur Store
Medium: Print on paper
Furriers, as those shops stocking good quality fur were known, could be found in Oxford Street. These stores were very exclusive at the beginning of the 19th Century, very few could afford to buy fur coats or stoles and so they were very desirable. Stores such as M., J. & Nathan, offered to store fur garments for their customers during the summer months, ensuring that they would be saved from being ruined by moths. By the end of the century, there were many more stores selling fur and the larger department stores even had sections dedicated to fur trimmings.
