Advert for the Tea & Coffee Mart
Printer: Frost, T

Duchess Anna of Bedford is credited with inspiring that most stereotypically English of traditions: taking afternoon tea. Hungry and thirsty, with no dinner until much later that evening, she ordered tea and cakes to be sent to her rooms. This became her daily routine, and when she began to invite her friends along, it even became a social occasion. Middle and upper class London society gradually followed suit.
