Medium: Print on paper
For 200 years tea drinking in Britain was restricted to the very wealthy, tea was taxed and was therefore very expensive. By the mid 19th Century with the lifting of the taxes and the large number of companies trading tea in China, India and Shri Lanka the prices were reduced dramatically. Specialist shops like ‘John & James’ sold many different types of tea at prices affordable by all.
