Advert For A Meeting Of The Lambeth Ballot & Sale Building Society
Printer: Symons, W. M.
Medium: Print on paper
During the Victorian period the banks and building societies flourished. The growth of industry and commerce and social improvement led to an increased need for institutions that looked after people’s money. Just as now, banks in the 19th century also invested money on behalf of customers, made loans and processed cheques. Smaller independent banks closed during this period and instead large banking corporations opened branches all around the country.
