This is an advertisement for Edward Coxhead Hutchins specialist corn cure. Corns were a common affliction in the 19th century, largely because fashionable shoes were pointed with high heels. Shoes and boots were made of hard leather and often did not fit people properly causing them to rub and cause corns. Home made remedies were popular and people rubbed them with caster oil, onions or even leaves from geranium plants. Once developments were made in the field of medicine there were more remedies like Hutchin’s corn cure available.
