Advert for Fisher & Co's Carry-All Tricycle
Printer: Iliffe & Son
Medium: Print on paper
For brief period in the late 19th century, the tricycle outstripped the bicycle as a self-propelled mode of transport. The tricycle was popular with delivery men because large boxes could be added to the front, making it more practical for carrying heavy goods and produce through the streets. They were also popular with women because they were easier to ride while wearing the large skirts fashionable during the period.
