This leaflet is advertising the services of Bailey Brothers, heraldic and general engravers. Engravers in the 19th century worked with a variety of materials during the period adapting their craft as new techniques were introduced. Wood engraving were not only cheap but easy to produce and were popular in the 1870s and 80s. Engravings could also be prepared for printing on metals such as copper, pewter, steel or zinc. These materials were popular with engravers working for newspapers because many hundreds of copies could be made from them before they wore out. Also included on his leaflet are advertisements for Bailey Brothers products like the lever embossing press, the endorsing press and exhibition cement.
