This leaflet is advertising Minshall’s Self Acting Barrel Tilt. In the 19th century beer was the favourite drink of the working classes because it was strong and inexpensive. Beer was produced and sold in wooden barrels in a variety of sizes. These barrels were kept behind the counter and sometimes in the cellar in Victorian public houses. Stands, holders and levers like the one illustrated on this leaflet were used so that all the liquid from the barrels could be easily drained thus using every last drop.
