Advert For Imperial Hair Regenerator, Hair Dye
Medium: Print on paper
Fashions for different hairstyles changed almost as rapidly as clothing during the 19th century. Men generally wore their hair just above or just below the collar and for most of the century it was not acceptable for men to have a beard or moustache as these were associated with military men. A woman’s hair was her ‘crowning glory’ as was hardly ever cut apart from during a severe illness. Hair was dresses with jewels, feathers and ribbons and during the late 1800 it was fashionable to dye ones hair, usually to a dark brown colour.
