This is the reverse of the leaflet.

This is an advertisement for John R Whitley & Co.’s clothes wringer. These machines were smaller than mangles and were not used to smooth and press clothes but to push the water out of the laundry as soon as it was removed from the washing tub. It was possible to alter the pressure of the rollers and that way the machines could be used for either wringing or mangling. These machines were often made to be bolted onto the edge of a table to make the work easier for the laundress. In the 1880s wringing machines would have sold for about £2 each, a considerable sum at this time.
