Advert For Lewis & Co, Clothier & Milliner
Medium: Print on paper
This is an advertisement for Lewis and Co's clothier and milliner. During the first half of the nineteenth century the bonnet dominated women's fashion, it grew in size and many ribbons, flowers, feather and veils were added to give an appearance of even greater size. However there were comparatively few alternative bonnet shapes and by the 1860s women’s hats had reduced in size so that they were little more than decorations for elaborate hairstyles.
