This is a leaflet for E. Palmer's, furnishing shop. The furnishings in a typical middle to upper class home during this period would have been very dark. Walls would have been painted red or green or been covered with an embossed wallpaper, furniture was mahogany and carpets and curtains would have been patterned and were made from thick and heavy material. This was largely because dark colours didn’t show the dirt so it was easier to keep the house looking clean.
