This leaflet features adverts for a large number of products, one of which is Moet and Chandon Champagne. Claude Moet was the founder of the Moet and Chandon Company, and there are records dating shipments of wine going as far back as 1743. Louis XV made champagne very fashionable, drinking it at suppers he held for his favourite courtiers, Madame de Pompadour was said to love the taste. Moet started shipping to England in 1850 and soon the wealthy were enjoying iced champagne with their meals. In 1856 Moet produced a champagne with lower doses of sugar especially for sale in England where there was a demand for a dryer wine.
