Advert for Pache & Sons, artifical eye manufacturers
Medium: Print on paper
Based in Great Charles Street in Birmingham, Pache & Sons specialised in making artifical eyes and supplied them to hospitals around the country. The Moorfields Eye and Ear Infirmary had been opened in London in 1805, a huge leap in opthalmology in England. If a patient lost an eye from disease or in an accident, they would generally be given an artificial eye such as those advertised here.
