Brochure for C. Hayman, South London Costume Manufactory 5190a (verso)
Medium: Print on paper
This is a beautifully illustrated leaflet advertising C. Hayman's clothing store. Throughout the 19th century bonnets were very fashionable for women; they changed in size, style and material as the period progressed. During this period much of the millinery sold was ready made, bonnets and hats could be bought with the accessories and trimmings, like feathers, flowers and lace already added. Alternatively the decorative items like ribbons could be purchased individually and taken to a milliner like C. Hayman, featured on this advert, who would then create the desired designs to match particular outfits.
