This keaflet for the Artist's Supply Store is advertising the sale of a piece of equipment called a 'pentograph'. Now more commonly known as a pantograph, this device is used to enlarge or reduce drawings or diagrams to any scale. Variations on this model have been used for hundreds of years; indeed Leonardo Da Vinci used one to duplicate his drawings. By the 19th century the pantograph was in constant use by engravers, even to recreate images on three-dimensional surfaces such as cups, bowls and vases.
