Printer: Smith, Walter
Medium: Print on paper
Date: 1884/02/11

The popular Canterbury Theatre of Varieties was the first of the great music halls. It staged a diverse range of acts, often with a surprisingly large number billed on one programme. Such a full and varied line-up is advertised on this poster for a day performance held to raise money for Lusby's Music Hall Employees Relief Fund. Many well known names such as G H Macdermott (1845-1901),or "the Great Macdermott", famous for his patriotic songs, are listed alongside a recitation, a bicycle troupe and ballet dancing.
