Described on this poster as "The Greatest of all Character Comedians", Charles Coburn's career in music hall stretched from 1872 to 1945. Born Colin McCallum, his fame rested largely on two songs: 'The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo' and 'Two Lovely Black Eyes'. Widely travelled and very popular, he could actually sing the latter song in nine languages.
