This is a poster for the South London Palace music hall, advertising its 'Derby Night' entertainments. Near the top of the bill is GH Chirgwin, who performed at this venue many times. He performed in blackface stage make-up. Once, just before a performance, he accidentally rubbed his face and wiped much of the make-up off, leaving him with one white eye. The audience laughed so much that he often called himself the White Eyed One from then on. He played the fiddle and sang songs such as 'Blind Boy' and 'The Fiddle is my Sweetheart'.
