Ticket for a Grand Chinese Water Carnival at the Royal Agricultural Hall
During the late 19th century Chinese fabrics, ornaments and designs became very popular. This was largely due to a dramatic contemporary increase in trade with China and the Far East. It became very fashionable to have Chinese vases and bamboo furniture in one's home. The techniques, styles and ideas of Chinese craftsmen were quickly copied in Britain. Exhibitions like the one advertised on this leaflet were very popular.
