Tradecard for Walter E Barry, stationer, engraver & printer
Medium: Print on paper
The Victorian era was marked by the mass production of formerly luxury goods. With the decrease in price consequent upon mass production, the English middle classes could now afford to stock their homes with ornate items previously seen only in the houses of the upper and gentry classes, in particular furniture, drapery, ornaments and paintings.
This is a tradecard advertising Walter E Barry's services as a dealer in clocks, china, candelabra and stationery ("articles for the writing table"). Barry was also an engraver and printer.
