This manuscript is written by several scribes, two of whom almost certainly worked at Exeter Cathedral while Leofric was bishop (1046-72), and it was probably given to the cathedral by him. The trimmed inscription in red at the top edge of the leaf is the signature of John Parker, son of Archbishop Matthew Parker (1504-1575), who was chaplain to Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, and the greatest-ever collector of Anglo-Saxon manuscripts, now mostly at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
