Although it is now bound with other manuscripts, at least one of which belonged in the Middle Ages to Beauchief Abbey, a short distance to the south Sheffield, the script and subject-matter of this section indicate that it was written at Winchester: St. Birinus was venerated at Winchester, where his relics lay, and the scribe is known to have written other Winchester manuscripts.
