This manuscript was originally compiled in 1380 by Thomas Walsingham, the precentor of the Benedictine abbey of St. Albans, as a record of those who had made gifts to the abbey. This image shows Richard de Tewing, prior of the abbey of Tynemouth, a cell of St. Albans. He is shown holding a money-bag, and the adjacent text explains that he obtained £20 annual rent for St. Albans.
