This chronicle of the Benedictine priory of the Virgin Mary and St. Martin, Dover, was originally written on a long roll of vellum but was later split into sections and bound in book form. It starts with an elaborate calligraphic initial 'A', with the foundation of Britain by Brutus, 4067 years after the creation of the world and 1713 years before the birth of Christ.
